Blowing Springs has been a gathering place for centuries, where Native Americans and early settlers found fresh spring water with cool breezes blowing from the rocks at the base of Lookout Mountain overlooking the fertile Chattanooga valley. The oldest remaining home here dates to 1907, with mossy foundation stones providing evidence of older structures in the surrounding forest.
In 1994, Beth Rogers and her husband Jeff had a vision for this place as they brought together a group of artists at this property. Through their pottery studio, they hosted artists and creatives, creating from clay harvested from the mountainside, raising goats, gardening, and living in community together.
In 2014, Enoch and Hannah Elwell moved here, creating Treetop Hideways, a luxury treehouse hotel bringing people from all over the world to stay in the forest and experience a place of rest and inspiration. In 2022, they picked up the torch from Beth to continue building on her work in providing a place of rest and healing.
Now, in 2024, two decades later, we are beginning the work of more intentionally structuring our community to better clarify and communicate our shared purpose together.
